Ice climbing Course 2027

Our ice climbing course is a weekend course for the ones who want to get introduced to the sport, learn  to approach it with safety in mind and where to start.

The course focuses on  climbing technique, rope work, belaying and   more.

Instructor: Ívar Finnbogason

Subject to change. The course schedule will always be adapted to the prevailing weather and snow conditions. 

Location: Capital region (specific locations will be announced at a later date)

A detailed plan will be published soon.

Previous ski touring experience is not required. Use of ropes and rock climbing experience is helpful. 
 

Physical fitness: Participants should be in reasonable hiking shape.

It is important to arrive well equipped for the course. Participants must bring the following equipment:

Climbing harness

  • Crampons and ice axes (provided by the course provider)
  • Avalanche safety kit (transceiver, shovel, and probe) – please note that avalanche safety equipment is recommended to be less than 5–10 years old.

  • Stiff climbing/hiking boots.

  • Backpack

  • Climbing helmet

  • Waterproof shell jacket and trousers

  • Warm insulated jacket

  • Warm gloves and lightweight gloves

  • Hat

  • Food for the day
